On February 7th, New Vitae Wellness and Recovery sponsored an Alliance of Community Service Providers event to celebrate the career of Dr. Arthur C. Evans Jr. as he transitions from his current role at Philadelphia’s Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual DisAbility Services (DBHIDS) to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the American Psychological Association.  Adam Devlin, Board Chair, Judith Yanacek, President and CEO, Michelle Beck, Vice President, Business Operations and Kathleen Leonard, Administrator, Recovery Centers, represented New Vitae at the event hosted at the Down Town Club in Philadelphia.

Members of the Alliance thanked Dr. Evans for his years of service and partnership.  During the 12 years he served as the Commissioners for DBHIDS, Dr. Evans played a vital role in the application of recovery principles for the people of Philadelphia.  His visionary leadership resulted in a transformation in treatment philosophies, service delivery models, and fiscal policies throughout the city.  His guidance facilitated improved health outcomes while improving access to psychiatric services and other supports.

New Vitae Wellness and Recovery has been proud to partner with the city of Philadelphia and Dr. Evans for over ten years to provide individualized, recovery-modelled services to those in behavioral health recovery.  Although Dr. Evan’s wisdom and support will be missed, our staff wish him the best of luck in his next and future career steps!
