New Vitae Wellness and Recovery is proud to announce that three of its outstanding team members—Taliah Mason, RN, Robert Dromboski, and Samara Speakes—have been named recipients of the prestigious 2024 PA Forensic Rights and Treatment Awards. The awards were presented at the annual PA Forensic Rights and Treatment Conference, hosted on December 4th and 5th by Drexel University.

The conference serves as a platform for professionals and advocates in forensic mental health to share innovative practices, enhance collaboration, and celebrate exceptional contributions to the field. This year’s theme emphasizes the importance of community-based solutions for individuals with justice involvement and with mental health needs, aligning perfectly with New Vitae Wellness and Recovery’s mission.

 

Taliah Mason, RN, BSN, Assistant Administrator at New Vitae’s Philadelphia Residential Treatment Facilities, has been recognized for her commitment to individuals with justice involvement navigating significant life transitions. With over three years of dedicated service in forensic mental health, with New Vitae Taliah has pioneered holistic, individualized treatment plans that address both mental health and community reintegration. Her military background as a combat medic and her pursuit of advanced nursing education underscores her resilience and innovative approach to care.

 

Robert Dromboski, M.Ed., New Vitae’s Psychologist, brings over 30 years of expertise in corrections and forensic psychology. From his groundbreaking work at SCI-Graterford, where he led mental health services for over 3,300 inmates, to his current role at New Vitae for over seven years, Bob has consistently prioritized the well-being of individuals with justice involvement. His use of Cognitive Therapy-Recovery (CT-R) has provided transformative care, helping clients build resilience and reduce recidivism.

 

Samara Speakes, M.Ed., Administrator of New Vitae’s three forensic residential treatment facilities in Philadelphia, has spent five years enhancing services for adults transitioning from incarceration to community living. Through partnerships with key organizations and her leadership of Mobile Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Peer Support Services, Samara has created pathways to empowerment for justice-involved individuals. Her personal resilience and deep connection to the Philadelphia community further amplify her impact.
